Many years ago, a senior partner with a high-profile recruitment firm told me point-blank to redesign my résumé so it would be more appropriate for the position I was speaking with them about. It was hard to hear, but I followed their guidance. Since then, I have used that approach for how I present and promote myself in my own crafted résumé. It has worked when I have helped other people too.
